Breast ptosis

Breast ptosis refers to the sagging of the female breast over the infra-mammary fold.

The treatment for mammary ptosis is a breast lifting and it aims to reshape upwards the sagging breast through maximum use of existing breast tissue. This will in certain cases make the positioning of a breast implant (prosthesis) necessary. A round or anatomic breast prosthesis, coupled with the ptosis treatment, may be the solution where the reshaped breast lacks sufficient volume.

The scar depends on the extent of breast ptosis : it can be either peri-areolar (around the areola), vertical (lollipop), or inverted T-shaped in cases of major ptosis.

Where an asymmetry of shape or volume exists, Dr Dudrap will draw attention to the fact and take care to correct it as much as possible, but perfect symmetry does not exist!
