Hyaluronic acid

No longer authorized by SWISSMEDIC
Breast augmentation used to be performed through injection of hyaluronic acid5called Macrolane) specifically intended for the breast.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the skin, present in the derm where it guarantees hydration and maintains its three-dimensional structure. This natural substance has been synthesised into an injectable gel that restores volume by water binding.

The clinical surveillance can be done by Dr Dudrap and surgical removal of the gel and placement of a breast implant may be performed if necessary following the plastic surgery principles.

The other options for breast augmentation will be discussed with a emphasis for the breast lipostructure technique i.e. fat grafting.
